‘Sun is Shining’ is a chaotic, abstract piece reminiscent of sunny days and flowering meadows, signaling the magical coming of springtime in Israel. Rays of sunshine, flowers, and trees are depicted in large shapes and warm mosaic colors, with the sun at their center. The joyful work is bright and filled with texture, dimension and interconnected contrasting lines of color. Simhon uses his revolutionary inverse collage process, involving painting using a special absorbing material he created. On top of mixed media, images and colors from the newspapers underneath are brought forth to the surface on Steinbach paper. The result is an outstanding collage, where he proceeds to paint on top of with Oil paint, adding layers of color, images and texture to the work.
