Avi Ben Simchon uses his signature inverse collage technique in creation of ‘Sleeping Girl’. The beautiful woman is depicted curled up, with her captivating blue hair adorned in flowers while she is otherwise bare, her face resting calmly against her knees. Her peaceful expression in rest exudes a sense of feminine elegance and calming energy. 

Avi uses his revolutionary inverse collage process in this piece, painting using a special absorbing material he created on top of mixed media on Steinbach paper, before adding color back to the textured piece with oil paint. The result is an outstanding portrait of colors, images and textures with every single brushstroke. Inspired by cubism and fauvism, Avi communicates layers of emotion in his depiction of various women, setting a mood through their raw stances and expression.
