About the Artwork:

Joel Amits’ magnificent piece Vertigo depicts a swirling movement of butterflies migrating in a wavelike form, mirroring in direction in unison. The work is intriguing to the eye, appearing almost hypnotic, as its title suggests. It is made of laser-cut metal pieces mounted on a lacquered wood board. This series draws its inspiration from nature as well as from the computerized world and the doors it opens for artistic creation. Joel finds the ironic process of forming steel, a heavy and cold material, into such delicate forms of life such as the butterflies in ‘Vertigo’ to be an essential dimension to his work, provoking not just breathtaking imagery but layers of meaning.
